About the Founder

Madhuboni Chatterjee is a renowned Bharatanatyam exponent from Kolkata and the founder of Jahnavi Centre for Performing Arts

 Born in 1975
– Started her journey in Bharatanatyam style in 1991 with her Arangetram or Mancha Prabesh
– Trained under Guru Thankamani Kutty, Padmabhusan Kalanidhi Narayan, and later guided by Padmabhusan Alarmel Valli
– Inspired by Sanjukta Panigrahi, Yamini Krishnamurthy, Alarmel Valli, Kelucharan Mahapatra, and Birju Maharaj
– Acknowledged by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) as a national-level Bharatanatyam dancer in 2000

– Known for elegance_ with powerful abhinaya as her USP
– Strong expressions, ability to emote lyrics, confident footwork with poise
– Focuses on finding new directions through traditional Bharatanatyam

– Raktakarobi– (First time in dance theatre format) Tagore’s immortal classic. (রক্তকরবী)
ICCR invited it to represent India at an International conference on Tagore literature at Dhaka National Museum in 2012
– Red Oleander – English version of Raktakarobi, 2012 under Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India
